American Muslims hosting annual Muslim conference in Harrisburg, PA

America’s oldest Muslim community plans to gather in Pennsylvania for a conference starting Friday.

The 67th Annual Jalsa Salana Convention starts on August 14th and runs through August 16th at the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex in Harrisburg,PA. The three day event is being hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA.Conference guests include Members of Congress, the U-S State Department, Guatemala’s Congress, and Mali’s ambassador to the U-S.

The three day conference will attract more than 7,000 guests. There will also be a special interfaith session during the weekend on “Religion, Freedom & Peace”. Interfaith speakers and politicians will discuss the current ideological climate and how to solve the extremist threat.

Senior Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, Dr Naseem Rehmatullah said:

“Extremists are trying to ruin Islam’s name”

“We are here to defend Islam and to show that true Islam is a religion of Peace.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community United States was founded in 1920 by Mufti Muhammad Sadiq. The first Jalsa Salana United States was held in 1948 in Dayton, Ohio and has been held for over six consecutive decades.
