Ismaili spiritual leader Aga Khan arrives in Pakistan

On December 7th the spiritual head of the Shia Ismaili community, Aga Khan IV arrived in Pakistan to lead the community’s Diamond Jubilee in the country.His arrival in Pakistan coincides with the Islamili community’s commemoration of his Diamond Jubilee. The Diamond Jubilee marks the 60 years of his spiritual leadership of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community.

Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini along with his eldest daughter Princess Zahra arrived at Pakistan military’s Nur Khan airbase where he was received by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif. While in Pakistan, he is also expected to meet with President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and several other government leaders.

He is expected to meet huge congregations of his followers on the 9th of December in Chitral and on the 10th of December in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan. The prince will meet the community in Islamabad on the 12th and 14th of December in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, before departing for Karachi, where he will spend two more days, meeting community leaders and government officials.

The last time the Aga Khan met his followers in Pakistan was in 2000.
