Police in Chenab Nagar arrested eight individuals during a gambling raid in Nasirabad Mohalla, according to an FIR filed on August 14, 2026.
The raid occurred after officers, while on patrol near Aqsa Chowk, received a tip about illegal gambling occurring on an empty plot near Haveli Azan Ramzan Tonda. Officers, including Naveedul Hassan (194/C), Sohail Ahmed (253/C), and Usman Ghani (634/C), carried out the operation.
Eight suspects were apprehended at the scene: Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Ali, Irfan Ahmed, Asif Rehman, Shahbaz Ahmed, Afzal Ahmed Tahir, Zaheer Abbas, and Omar Daraz. One individual, identified as Irfanullah, managed to escape.
Items recovered included cash totaling Rs. 156,700, four mobile phones, and 52 playing cards. The cash was discovered in denominations of 30 notes of Rs. 5000, six notes of Rs. 1000, and seven notes of Rs. 100. Evidence was sealed on-site and taken into police custody.
Authorities have charged the suspects under the 5/7/78 Gambling Ordinance. An investigation is underway, and further updates are expected.
