Chenab Nagar, previously known as Rabwah, is a majority Ahmadi town and the primary residence of followers of the Ahmadiyya faith. Ahmadis, declared non-Muslims under Pakistan’s 1974 Constitution, are banned from hosting public gatherings or conferences in the town, while police oversee and protect events such as the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference.
