Mobile Payments: Square’s Card Case iPhone app

Ever wished you could make payments by using just your iPhone without the need of swiping any cards or fondling your pockets for change well now you can and Square’s latest iPhone app called Sqaure Card Case lets you do just that.

The iPhone app released on Wednesday lets you make mobile payments without even taking your phone out of the pocket.

Card Case utilizes the “geofencing” technology which came bundled with Apple’s latest iOS5 update. Geofencing builds virtual boundaries around particular geographic points so that means if a store accepts Square and you you walk into its geofence a tab will be automatically opened in your name on the Merchant’s Register App which has also been developed by Sqaure.

If you choose to place an order the tab will become  active and at the end of it payment will be taken out via your linked credit card account and a digital receipt will be sent to your card case account.

Square thinks this by far the most reliable and easiest solution to implement in terms of mobile payments.

Megan Quinn Square’s director of products said:

There’s no waving of your phone needed with us

Once they’ve paid this way, people want to continue to pay this way.

This new version of Card Case app is available on iTunes App Store for free while an Android version is still in the making.
