American Muslims attend White House Iftar Dinner

Last night President Obama hosted the annual White House Iftar Dinner honouring contributions made by American Muslims, President Obama also honoured the victims of 9/11 attacks as the tenth anniversary of the attacks approaches. He said “We must be the America they lived for, and the America they died for.”

The audience consisted of Muslim Leaders, members of congress, activists as well as leaders of other faiths.

One of the attendee was Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA’s National Vice President, Mr. Naseem Mahdi.

To commemorate the ten year anniversary of 9/11, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA has launched a nationwide “Muslims for Life” campaign across its 71 chapters to collect 10,000 bags of blood and save 30,000 lives.

Mr Mahdi said:

“Our Community was honoured to be invited to this year’s Iftar dinner at the White House,”

“We support the President’s call to honour the memories of our fellow Americans who perished on 9/11, and I had the distinct privilege to speak with him about our recently launched ‘Muslims for Life’ campaign.”

The Muslims for Life is part of a three-part campaign by the Ahmadiyya community which follows “Muslims for Peace” and “Muslims for Loyalty” campaigns.

The tradition of hosting the Iftar dinner was started by former President Bill Clinton and was continued under President George W. Bush.
