Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK (AMA) has strongly condemned the murder of a British citizen in Woolwich on Wednesday.
In a May 23 press release the community stated “It is particularly saddened to learn that the victim was a member of the Armed Forces who nobly dedicated his life in the service of the nation. We hope that the murderers and their accomplices are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
This Friday thousands of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community will be congregating for Friday Prayers and will also condemn the barbaric murder of Drummer Lee Rigby by extremists on Wednesday.
The gathering of British Muslims from across the country will take place in London at Western Europe’s largest Mosque. Worshippers will offer prayers for Drummer Lee Rigby and his family and express solidarity against extremism.
Rafiq Hayat, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community UK, said:
“We stand united with the rest of the country in sharing the deep sorrow and pain following the horrific senseless attack on Wednesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Drummer Lee Rigby.
“We hope that the perpetrators of this crime, that is based on a twisted and warped ideology, are brought to justice.
“The actions of the perpetrators of this crime bear no resemblance to the true peaceful Islam that we know and love. The teachings of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are unequivocal in rejecting murder and extremism and the Quran states quite clearly that, ‘He whosoever killed a person…it shall be as if he had killed all mankind.‘(Ch 5.V33 )”
Such evil acts have no place in Islam and we continue to stand resolutely against those who carry out extremist acts in the name of Islam.
